Badger hair roots are very robust which allows the brush to be vigorously used without breakage of the hair. The hair tips are soft and this facilitates smooth application of heavier media such as paints or adhesives. The hair shaft is springy but stiff offering control. Since they are a natural hair they retain mediums far better than a synthetic and application is streak-free.

The handle is Japanese cypress, which resists rot, and the binding is synthetic string.
