Boku-Undo Thickened Sumi Ink

Highly recommended by mokuhnaga artist Elizabeth Forrest

"In Japan it’s used for calligraphy but is a great favorite of hanga printers in Japan I’m told. I like it because unlike the mokuhanga sumi I studied with, it’s liquid and when it dries in a container doesn’t crystallize and can be reconstituted. Out of the tube, you have to add some water to
make it spreadable with a hanga brush, since it’s very thick, but it remains intense black. Tip: Adding little drops of sumi TO the water gives
you an incredible range of greys. (If you add water to the sumi, you’ll end up making a very large quantity trying to get grey as it is so intense)"

Size: 100ml / 3.38oz tube

A polished black sumi ink that flows well and dries quickly. Gives good darks and lights.

Suitable for cold climates and easy to use in winter.
