Professional Grade Boku-Undo Japanese Liquid Sumi Ink / Regular Tone

The Genso Series of purplish blue-black liquid sumi ink is the top of the line liquid sumi and is a best seller in Japan.

Typically stick sumi gives the largest range of color and expressiveness, but many artists prefer the convenience of liquid sumi. However, liquid sumi typically does not have the same qualities and can degrade over time. The Genso Series gives the closest qualities of sumi stick ink in a liquid format giving wonderful rich and mild tones of black.

This ink cannot be mixed with stick ink or any liquid sumi. It cannot be thinned with water.

This is the Regular Tone Genso Sumi. There is a Special Dark Tone available.  To get a range of tones, the two are mixed together. A good recipe is two parts of regular tone with one part of dark tone.
